5 Questions to Ask Someone Soon…

5 Questions to Ask Someone Soon:

Whether you are spending time with a friend, a spouse, a co-worker or someone you are coaching or mentoring, these 5 questions can lead to some great conversations and/or opportunities to learn, teach and grow for both of you.

1. What has Surprised you Recently?

There is much to  be learned from the surprises in our lives and in the lives of others. Ask about surprises, you’ll be surprised. (Sorry, couldn’t resist…)

2. What Successes have you experienced lately?

John Maxwell has said, “Experience is not the best teacher, examined experience is.” Examining ours or other’s successes is a great way to milk the learning out of them.

3. What Stresses have you encountered?

Nothing teaches like negative circumstances. Asking someone about their recent stresses offers us a unique opportunity to learn.

4. What Struggles have you had to deal with?

Its the struggles of life that grow us. Asking someone about where they’re struggling gives us the ability to learn from the stretching places of another’s life.

5. What Stories make it all worth it?

If we don’t take time to reflect on the stories, we will never celebrate. At the end of the day, leadership is all about making a difference in someone else’s life. Asking to hear a story is a great way to do that. Stories truly make the journey worth it.

Good set of questions that I can see a use for in several situations, even outside of the coach/mentor role.
