Irrelevent Cords

I recently unzipped a compartment of my briefcase that I have carried for 4 years and I discovered I have several cords to devices I no longer use in my life. Yet I carry them. I lug them around everyday needlessly to the office and back. To the car and back. On a trip and back. And I don’t need them. In fact, I couldn’t find a usefulness for them if I tried.

The thing they used to connect to doesn’t exist in my life anymore.

And yet I carry these irrelevant cords.

Got any irrelevant cords in your life? Stuff you continue to lug around with you even though it serves no logical purpose in your life anymore?

Guilt?

Shame?

Inferiority complex toward a sibling?

Insecurity about a coworker?

Anger about a decision made against you more than 2 years ago?

Maybe you should make a conscious decision today to remove the cords from your bag, after all they’re tangling up the ones you do need to use in your everyday life.

Just a thought…

What a great post. Great illustration. (Meaning…I will now use it in one of my sermons.)
