"Anticipation" – An Often Overlooked Leadership Skill

My friend Brad Lomenick, (@BradLomenick) in his recently released book, The Catalyst Leader, made a statement that jumped off the page at me.

In his chapter in being a “capable” leader, he writes, “Capable leaders are Anticipators.”

I think that was the first time I’ve heard anticipation referred to as a leadership trait. And I love it.

3 things Brad says anticipating leaders do well:

1. They stay a step ahead of their team in leadership thoughts.

2. They don’t react, they inact.

3. They figure out what the organization needs before anyone else realizes it.

Now my thoughts…

As I’ve thought about this concept of Anticipation in the last several weeks since reading Brad’s book, I can see how I use this essential leadership skill all the time.

I highly recommend Brad’s book. Order a case for your team, you won’t regret it.
