4 Reasons You Should Lead a Connection Group

Our fall semester of Connection Groups is just around the corner at Next Level Church and I want to challenge so many of you to consider leading or facilitating a group this fall. In fact, I believe one of the greatest ways we can grow in our faith is through becoming a connection group leader!
Here are 4 Reasons Why you should Lead a Connection Group:

1. Personal growth. Most of us have a strong internal desire to grow and become better. However, it can become difficult to stick to any particular regiment or discipline if we lack accountability. One of the best byproducts of leading a connection group, is that you not only have the opportunity to help others get out of their comfort zones and grow, but you also feel the responsibility to growbecause you’re leading. When you choose to take this step, you’ll find that the expectation of those you are leading will become your built-in accountability.
2. Opportunity to invest in others. Our sin nature and our world around us, makes it very easy for us to be self-consumed. In fact, giving or serving outside of ourselves is something that seems to take a little more effort and intentionality. Each one of us should be intentional about looking for, and creating opportunities to be a blessing to others. Leading a connection group is an  incredible platform  to teach others the very things that we are learning in our life. In essence, a connection group is a great way to “pay-it forward”

3. Develop life-changing friendships. The quality of our life is directly proportional to the quality of the people we have in it. Leading a connection group is the best way to find people with similar mindsets and interests that you can do life with. If you believe the quality of your friendships could improve, start a connection group around something you’re passionate about. Taking this step will give God the on-ramp to bring multiple people into your life, with similar mindsets to develop amazing friendships.

4. Ministry Platform. We are all called to be ministers of the gospel. However, not all of us are called to make ministry our full time vocation. Connection groups are the perfect vehicle to impact the local body of Christ. There is no better on-ramp for people in our business community to get involved in the Church, than by leading a connection group.

Now, if you’re thinking to yourself, “That sounds great and all, but I don’t have the time.” Let me put this obstacle to rest for you. Start a group around something you’re already doing! If you enjoy health and fitness, start a workout connection group. If you’re passionate about diving into the Word, start a bible study. Whatever it is, just remember the goal is to ensure that your doing life with similarly minded people, while growing in your relationship with Jesus!
